What a frigging ordeal. It's been years since I had to deal with a catheter but I still have bad recollections. Try drinking a bunch of beer. The first whiz may hurt but it will get diluted quickly, the old flushout. cuz p

Well, what to say to all that, except that you are still a long winded son of a b...I know the foley catheter deal as I have had mine since like when I went into the hospital back in November...take it out and I don't pee all day so they put it back in...that lidocaine is the best stuff ain't it...I have had the foley inserted without the numbing stuff and that, if you don't know how to do is freaking HELL...I may have to go with putting catheters in myself everytime I think I want to pee...this does not thrill me...in fact it scares hell out of me, but they say we can't keep the foley in there for the rest of my life...sorry for all your troubles and I cannot believe that smoking caused all of them though I am sure it contributed to a lot of it...be happy you had 70 some years without a problem, now you are going to pay for those 70 some years...Always, ur sickly old cuz...ED

It certainly looks like you've been going through what modern medicine does for us these days. In the old days they wouldn't have discovered the cancer until it had reached the point where nothing could be done, and you would just waste away with a lot of pain hoping to be put out of your misery.

If everyone here on AD wrote their detailed medical experience like you do, you would be surprised at how many have gone through similar ordeals. I know I have. You and I are lucky to have insurance allowing us to pick and choose our doctors and to get the best diagnoses we can, even though sometimes we have to wait for a doctor appointment or work through paperwork to get things done. Millions don't have those options and end up in the emergency room with problems that are far worse than they originally were when no other options were available.

My helper has to write her daily experience with my care on our timesheets to my long-term care insurance carrier. Based on the detail you provided, maybe I should hire you to write these wonderful daily anecdotes for them to read and enjoy. ;-)

Keep your chin up! The burning and orange will go away in time and you will get better, but regardless of hopping on the health food at this late date (and quitting smoking?) you are on the long slow decline that your Jersey cousin has experienced in spades. We are all looking forward to it� Aren't we? As an author, I'm contemplating the Hemingway solution, only it will invalidate my life insurance� Dammit!

I am feeling for you! You are going through hell. I thought I had it bad breaking my leg! Now I am so grateful I broke it instead of going through what you are. OMG! Some of the side effects are terrible for some pills. I don't think some doctors really take that into consideration or they just don't read them! Get well soon!!!!!
