Unfortunately, it's a case of locking the barn after the horse got out. The question isn't what should have happened weeks or months ago, that's a fait accompli. The question we have to answer, and the only important one to ask is "O.K., what do we mdo about it now?"

Both Ed and Mr. Ed are right. Since we know the incubation period and also that Ebola is not transmitted by a parasite carrier or can be transmitted through the air, it is much easier to contain, once discovered. At last count, I believe, Ebola is in seven countries, and that is probably growing. The US is prepared and will probably confront all flights inbound before very long.

In the meantime there is an urgent effort to create a vaccine in the "experimental" treatment seems to be working very well. Therefore, I believe your dire prediction is a case of hysteria brought on by the media, always looking for every angle, every second on a story like this. There may be viruses out there we need to worry about, but I don't think that Ebola is one of them.

But once again - this is a world-wide problem - not just a U.S. problem. And if we ban flights from Africa, many travelers will just fly from Africa to Europe, Canada, or Mexico - and then catch a flight from there to the U.S. For a Flight Ban to work, all nations would have to institute one, and that ain't gonna happen. A woman in Spain was recently diagnosed with Ebola - and this will probably happen, all over the world.

We all know which horse we should have bet on after the race is over. I am willing to acknowledge the CDC and the entire medical profession as our best defense against Ebola as well as all other diseases. Mistakes are made by all of us, but that fact does not warrant labeling very bright people as "stupid." So far your geometric theory for ebola here has not panned out. Obama has been on top of this crisis from the gitgo. His actions require worldwide cooperation, something that no human has ever achieved.
