If You WIN ...
Is it Coincidence?
If You LOSE ...
Is it Fate?

Who Knows?
Who Cares?

LUCK ?

LUCK ?

Tom Hyland - (C) - 8/29/15

Is Yours ... Good? Bad? Dumb?

Some define Luck as ... Good Fortune.
Or ...

Something whose outcome can vary in an arbitrary manner.
Either Fortunate, or Unfortunate.

Something that happens by Chance ...
Rather than as a Logical Consequence.

If the result is Favorable to your situation ...
You call it Good ...
If Not ... OOPS!
"Bad Luck!"

if You had No Control, or No Clue ...
And the Result is Positive ...
You say: "DUMB Luck!"

So ... What about Gambling ... and ... Luck ?

My Addiction with the "Slots" started in 2001 ...
My First Trip to Vegas ...

Lost a Couple of Hundred in a One-Week Stay.
The "Bug" Bit Me !

Back at Home, played the Slots in Bars that "Paid Off."
"Wins" are quite disproportionate from "Losses."

But the Excitement of the Possibility of Winning ...
Draws You like a Moth to a Flame!

A Second visit to Vegas in 2004 for a Pool Tourney ...
Yielded about a $600 Profit ...
Still "Hooked"!

Occasional trips to Charlestown, W.Va Casino ...
One Time a Jackpot Hit for $1,200.
Like IT the best, as Drinks are "Free" ...
And ... you can SMOKE there!

Visited all Three Casinos in Delaware ...
No Smoking!
No LUCK !

One trip to Atlantic City years ago ...
Smoking ... OK ...
But ... Still No LUCK!

Then, years ago, Maryland started building Casinos ...

"Hollywood" in Perryville ...
"Maryland Live!" in Hanover ...
"Ocean Downs" in Ocean City ...
"Horseshoe" in Downtown Baltimore ...
No Smoking!

DID THEM ALL ...

Or rather ...

THEY ALL 'DID' ME !!!

Learned a Lot ... Namely ...

JESUS Does Not Help Gamblers ...
Guess it is a "Sin" ?

The "House" Always Wins!
Suspect "Camera-Controlled' Selected "Wins" ...
All Slot Machines are Computer Programmed ...
Ergo ... "RIGGED" !

GAMBLERS ARE STUPID ... CAN'T WIN !

Finally Realized that No Matter How long I Live ...
Will Probably Never Break Even !

But ... Still Have The "Bug' !

Excitement ... Noise ... Enjoyment ...
Suspense ... Mystery ... Stupidity !

"Luck of The Draw" ...

This pertains to Playing Cards ...
Poker ... Draw ... Stud ...
"Texas Hold'Em" ...

Been Playing That in Tavern League over a Year Now ...
It's FREE ... and No Real Money ...
Actually Placed First Once ...
And Second Once ...
Never Made it to Regional Play-Offs ...

Players at "Shooters" in Severna Park ...
Have 'Tagged' me as ...
"ALL-IN TOM"

Words from 'DIRTY HARRY" Come to Mind Now ...

"DO YOU FEEL LUCKY ... PUNK ?"

POW !

My father was rather addicted to slots. He claimed to have one 4 or 5 jackpots over the years my mother and he tried out casinos from South Texas to Northern Wisconsin. He never told me what it cost him to win those jackpots. I've been playing the slots very infrequently since the 1960s in Reno and have always had a very small limit… Lately, $100, and have come away very few times with any winnings.

I have seen little old ladies tying up 3 machines at a time, frantically pulling the levers (before pushbutton machines lost our money faster) in a trance over the sound and possibility of winning (big?).

The Indian tribes are raking it in from senior citizens who thought that "All injuns are injuns" from watching cowboy and Indian movies in their childhood. Sweet revenge.

There was a time I enjoyed gambling by playing the slots at one of the big houses in my area. I'd only go there with a set amount. It could be a very short stay. To me, the sound of bells was music to my ears. I haven't been to a casino in years, but you bring every bit of it back. There's no need for me to go back because of the cliché, "The house always wins."

LOL!!! I went to gamble one time and quit after I lost forty bucks. I was waitressing...doubles every day....I raised my kids by myself with no "help", child support, welfare, alimony.......never got any of those thus I have a hard time parting with money.......unless it's for the grandkids!! You must have been born under a lucky star!

Love ya!
