There’s a place near your home where the hungry are fed, the homeless are sheltered, and the abandoned are given a little hope.  It’s called your local animal shelter.

You should visit it sometime, and learn a little about the many wonderful things it does for our nonhuman neighbors who are down on their luck.

Things You Can Do at the Shelter to Lend a Hand:

·        Donate food, old blankets, towels, or kitty litter

·        Volunteer your time bathing and grooming animals,

·        Walking dogs, or playing with cats

·        Helping to stuff envelopes for mailing

·        Helping to publicize a fund raising event

·        Helping to spread the word about the needy animals there

       Things You Can Do in Your Everyday Life:

·        Be a responsible pet owner

·        Adopt your next pet from a shelter; don’t buy it from a pet store

·        Support legislation to protect all animals – domestic and wild

·        Report animal cruelty and neglect whenever you see it

·        Teach your children to respect all of earth’s living creatures

·        Our children are really the only hope these animals have left
