Yet One More Abandoned Dog In America Today
This gentle Pittie reminds me so much of ‘Red’ a paralyzed Pit Bull that we found down in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, and who quickly endeared himself to all of us. Red loved to play Fetch with us, even though he had to scoot along the ground to do so; with no use of his two back legs. And we all took turns bunking with Red, an abandoned, paralyzed, left behind dog who craved attention and who loved to snuggle with someone.
Today, happy Red gets around with a mini-wheel machine attached to his rear end, and he still loves to play Fetch. Abandoned Chuck was a little more fortunate than Red; with surgery and intensive therapy, he can now walk.

Anyway, the farm yard was filled with chickens, ducks, dogs, and cats so you had to watch where you stepped. There was one small, skinny mutt that had pups, quite remarkable because her hind legs were paralyzed (probably from being run over by a car) and dragged behind her. Anyway, for some reason, I had walked up to the house where all the kids were and I had passed the dog by and was talking to Tom's mother, when, suddenly one of my legs was pulled out from under me, leaving me standing on one leg with the other being pulled out behind me. I looked to see what was happening, and that little dog had me by the Achilles tendon and was pulling on me as hard as she could. She let loose and I checked, only to have a little broken skin and no bleeding. Tom told me that I had gotten too close to Loretta and the little dog had only been trying to protect her.
