It’s ‘National Wetlands Month,’ and we must all start advocating to save what remains of them in this nation.
In the 1600s, there were more than 220 million acres of wondrous wetlands in what would later become the United States.
Today, less than half of these precious wetlands remain. In fact, we are now losing an average of 80,000 acres of American Wetlands, each and every year now, to our endless urban and industrial sprawl.
Our elected officials, and today’s land grabbing developers, and our very own children, need to be educated very quickly that our god-given wetlands are not modern day wastelands to be so callously drained and converted to other uses.
Our precious wetlands replenish and clean our water supplies; they reduce our flood risks; they are a much needed part of Earth’s ancient ecosystems; and they provide much needed havens for our remaining, and ever dwindling, wildlife.
Our Wetlands Are in Essence, the Very Nurseries of Continued Life On This Planet.
Seems the government does Study after Study, after Study - pays a lot of LIP SERVICE - but does nothing to curb the real culprits - Corporations and their DUMPING!
Heck, if babies are being aborted, who needs Nurseries anyway. right? Peace, Tom.
