More families bring pets into their homes during the Holiday Season, than at any other time of the year. But far too many American families still continue to purchase these new pets from atrocious puppy mill breeders, while millions of unwanted and discarded dogs and cats still languish in America’s animal shelters. And, our abysmal economy right now has very sadly made things much worse for them.
The IAMS Home 4 The Holidays Pet Adoption Campaign is now in its 11th Year; and this year, over 3,000 animal shelters and animal welfare organizations nationwide are participating. The hope is to find loving new homes for 1.5 million homeless dogs and cats this Holiday Season.
This Pet Adoption Campaign runs through January 4, 2010, and about 400,000 adoptions have already taken place. But there’s a very long way to go, and many, many adorable dogs and cats are waiting at participating shelters – and one of them, just might be waiting – for you.
