We miss a lot when 'Yesterday' is not appreciated
For instance, great books allow us to visit the oldness
of time, and the challenge of interpreting past events
assures us of a never- ending supply of profitable
reading.
Many of us have known the thrill of holding crisp old
newspapers telling of by-gone events now only blips
in recorded history. Their details spelled out in rare
and magnificent writing of the times. Those newspapers
had little competition back then, is of little significance.
Families are bound together with the cement of yesterday
Everyone is warmly touched with the gentleness of photo
of past generations' their shyness, their clothes and frozen
faces staring into a picture box held by a kind relative
High ranking are the snapshots of new babies filling laps
There is nothing that explains today like a great yesterday
Thanks to history centers libraries and museums which
keep it alive and fascinating, and most of it at no cost.
Yes, we should love the open invitation of yesterday
For the reasons I describe in this book, the world-wide suffering, death and extinction of humanity is very likely to occur, unless nonviolent and democratically determined radical and revolutionary personal and societal actions and changes are taken
