As millennials, we are famous to deflect blames and shy away from responsibilities.
Now, our life is majorly problem free (for a lot of us.) Our forefathers were not so lucky. They had a lot of problems which made them what they are today. These problems were what made them the strong willed and resilient folks that they are. We on the other hand never had the opportunity. This makes them feel that they are better than us (which they usually are). They assume that we don’t have problems- no economic crisis, no war (conventional), no famine etc. So, we are a bunch of self important twats (which we at least sometimes are).
We are not selfish, indifferent and hopeless. We want to please them, to make them proud of us but we have taken it to our brains that to excel, we need a problem just like our forefathers. We look for issues which do not need outrage and show our outrage on them which creates a new problem. We have started to create problems to solutions which are not necessary.
We do not use the problem free life to progress, to advance and to become something more.
When we do not have problems, we are creative. We may achieve something far greater than our forefathers. I fear that we-the millennials do not realise this.
To ease your mind though, 50 years ago when I was in college, I was surrounded by mediocre, draft dodging, cheating on their schoolwork, drinking instead of eating, apathetic losers, mostly who were guaranteed jobs as teachers where they could pass on to children their uneducated prejudices and practices. Now claiming to be like the 10% who made America great back then while being a part of the 90% who drifted along on the coattails with no purpose whatsoever except to settle down for life.
