“Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord"....Psalm 27:14
I so love this scripture, and to me it is so intense. David is trying to stress how very important it is to wait, to not be in such a hurry, and it all comes down to believing and trusting in God. First, David says "Wait on the Lord"......he is saying "don’t go, don’t go!” Then David is sharing wonderful promises..."be of good courage". "Believe, believe!" David screams out in this verse. "Stay, don’t go, believe in Him, for He is there, He is almighty". Then David says "He shall strengthen your heart". It is like David is saying to us "don’t give up, don’t leave...God is here, he is listening and He is able!” Then David again repeats what is important....to wait.
Waiting on the Lord means much more than just sit down and wait. It means believe, have faith, seek faith, seek to believe on the Lord.
EVERY ONE IS IN A HURRY
Hurrying and Scurrying around is all the world has grown accustomed to. People have been so conditioned to be in such a hurry, that they don’t even know they hurt or need. They want a quick fix to everything without the feeling of what even just happened. They don’t want to understand the miracle; they just want a quick fix miracle. Can you imagine this: your child comes to you to tell you something that means so much to them? You hurry them along to the point that you didn’t even hear what they were sharing. The child senses this and they come back again later, trying to share this again. Yet, you are in a hurry. Same thing then if you ask your child what they want for a gift, and you don’t even give them time to think and answer.
GOD DOES SPEAK TO US
God speaks to us through His Word and through prayer. God even can and wants to guide your thoughts and your ideas. He wants you to hear convictions in your heart. If you are not willing to wait and to wait to listen, you will miss out on His guidance and love. Many people, when they pray, they hurry into it and hurry even faster out of it. It is like they don’t want God's counsel, just a fix. Then they go throughout the day with all their burdens. Our needs as a people seeking God, is personal contact with Him. God wants us to speak, to talk, to discuss with Him. He tells us all through the Bible to come, lay down your cares and let us discuss it. He says "Let us", showing to us that He wants to commune with us.
Hearing God
To hear God, we must wait, hesitate, don’t just get right up and walk away. Do we carry on conversations like that with people? Well, as much as the world is changing daily, it almost is getting like that too with people, but that is not my point. The point is that our little hearts, our greatest of desires (should be) getting to know the Lord. He invites us "Come, learn of me". He has much to show us, to lead us into knowing, really knowing what pure and holy is.
Staying is saving
Staying in His presence in prayer is such a gift and that is what we need. God will bring to your mind what He knows you need to know and to understand.
I cuddle with Him, and I am not ashamed to admit it. I am a child, He is my Father. I bask in thoughts of Him and I can even find myself blushing over His love for me. If you have been a little girl and your father has spent time with you and made you feel so wonderful, then you know exactly what I mean. I waited a long, long, time to have these wonderful little gifts of blushing. I did not have a daddy on this earth to make me blush, and now I do, and those moments cannot even be described, but I have them with my Heavenly Father.
GOD IS GOOD
God is good, He is nothing but good. And he wants well for us all. He waits for us to seek and to desire, for He does not force His great love. He will make you feel like you are the only one He died for, when you spend time with Him. You will feel special, because you are special to Him. This God, this great brilliant God who made all heavens and earth formed you in your own mother’s womb, knew you even before you were born. He named you with a special name, and He made you His. You are His child. He molded you in a special way and He is so ready to share with you how much He has always loved you. Time with Him should be a greatest desire. There is no one on earth that loves as He does. Wait on the Lord and ye shall know Him.
