Giving your website an exclusive character is more about going beyond mainstream. You can have a design that is delightfully goofy, or you can have it seriously subtle, all that matters is if you stand out of the herd.

Let's face it – your WordPress website just a face in the crowd. And the sheer size of the crowd should be singularly good enough to make you nervous.

Let's figure out the possible reasons for the same (most of which – if not all – apply to your website):

  • Your website looks exactly like a thousand other websites across the web because the free and “beautiful” WordPress theme you are savoring happens to be hosting those thousand websites as well.

  • You are more than satisfied with the stunning imagery on the site, so the typography looks exactly the same as it looks on most websites.

  • You are too predictable. A website spun around women's fashion is dripping in pink and gloss, a website on furniture products is overtly sleek, or for that matter, a website on sports goods is too bouncy for the user's liking.

  • And so on.

Wearing exclusivity as your second skin on the web is surely a darn hard job. With a more than a bunch of new websites springing up every new minute, how do you add a personality to yours, without having to worry about some webmaster accusing you of hijacking his design? Creating a website that is designed uniquely down to the last thread is a challenge, but you still can have more than a few strands of exclusive brand characteristics reflected well and truly by your website.

The formulaic ways to set up and design a website have to be artfully combined with an innovative approach that condition your website for singularity right from the get-go. And no, the ways we are about to dole out have nothing to do with writing arduous codes. What we intend to bring forth are the seamlessly executable methods that can make your website follow the right tone in terms of its visual appeal and its exclusivity.

Let Loose Some Cash on a Premium Theme

They aren't as expensive as you think they are. Even the costliest ones would save you a lot of money you would otherwise spend on WordPress theme development. There is a truckload of highly impressive premium WordPress themes that do not skimp on the awe-factor, while packing a powerful punch on the functionality front. These themes are built with unique designs and patterns, and the higher you go in the price bar, the more uniqueness you can add to your website.

At the end of the day, it is not an investment you'll be forced to keep making. Invest once on a theme you zero in on after an extensive research and it will take care of an array of things for you. You get a visual appeal that is most suited to your brand and to your sensibilities, you are assured of better security standards, you get a more robust SEO architecture, you get a fabulous support service and so much more. The best part of using a paid theme is that you enjoy a free rein over its functionalities, ensuring that you can play around with its features as much as you want to.

Use the Custom Fonts and Give a Twist to the Conventional Typefaces

When we talk of custom fonts, we obviously refer to the non-default-WordPress fonts that can be custom created in order to attune them to your designing sensibilities. One thing that is most timeworn on the Internet is that common font-style that stretches across a vast array of websites. The webmasters are afraid to experiment with the typography since they feel that using distinct fonts might make their content unreadable for the general folks.

That however is a fear that can be – and must be – dispelled since you have a range of options when it comes to adding the custom fonts on your website. You can seek help from the third party custom font service providers on the Internet.

Images that Optimize the Visual Appeal of the Site (Steer Clear of Stock Images)

And then there is that. Images have the unfailing impact on any website – be it of any domain. Whether your website represents a healthcare center or an automobile brand, using compelling images will always prove to be of exceptional use to you. The difference lies in the way you use them for a particular theme. Going back to our example of healthcare, using images that are subtle in terms of their colors and tones is more recommended than using bright and vibrancy-filled images. It is always a much recommended option to go with conceptual images – the images that take the brand message depicted through the content forward.

Again, most websites on the web are filled with the run of the mill stock images. Not only do they prove to be a nasty burn to your website's uniqueness, they look remarkably contrived and fake. I, for one, am yet to come across a stock image that can come remotely close to a real-world scenario.

Use Colors Wisely

The colors on your website must go down well with your overall brand message. Don't go for overwhelmingly bright and glossy colors that are hurting the responsiveness of your website. There is always a room for creating a visually enchanting website, and still keeping it rich on the responsiveness scale.

Mixing the colors well and work wonders. If for example, you have created a minimally designed websites, using some vibrant element stand out in the middle of the screen would look exquisite. You don't have to go strictly by the rules. A flat design can surely benefit with some vibrant colors injected in restrained measure. A fashion brand can look most perfect with even the minimal use of colors.

Giving your website an exclusive character is more about going beyond mainstream. You can have a design that is delightfully goofy, or you can have it seriously subtle, all that matters is if you stand out of the herd. In case, you have made up your mind on creating a WordPress website then it is better to hire WordPress developer - if coding is not your thing.

Your article has some good points to remember. Most people seem to be afraid of developing their own websites and would rather rely on others, either templates or experts, just like income taxes, to do them. Many people even think that an account here at AD or Facebook is their website. That is probably why Facebook is so popular.

My first website was using a template offered by the service provider. I soon found that very confining when trying to update my home page. So, I learned a little HTML, started cranking out pages, and created my own home page. Following Apple's example I use a lot of white space and a simple layout that works for me. I'm constantly getting emails from experts who claim that they can draw more people to my website, but I'm already doing all the right things. Changing my website around like rearranging my living room (haven't done that in 20 years) may be a satisfying activity but not very productive.
