Help me to decide on the final protagonist for E.F.W.A.V.E.

Hello Everyone,

It's been a while, and I hope you all are doing well.

If you haven't been following along, I first posted a blog asking for your help for ideas for the final protagonist of a new story I'm developing called, E.F.W.A.V.E., which is an acronym for: Earth, Fire, Water, Air, Void, and Energy.

I was asking for help in designing the Energy character. I know this is an unorthodox approach, and as a result, no one responded with any ideas specific to that character.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm now asking you to vote for the best idea among these that I've brainstormed.

First, though, I will start with a recap of the other characters, in case that helps your decision.

Earth - Bregan Crestman, a male goliath (half-giant) who was orphaned as a baby and taken in by a small village of gnomes.

Fire - Danwe Silverthorn, a female elf who discovers her powers by accidentally setting her village on fire, which turns into a forestfire.

Water - Finndrel Goldwind, the Squallrider, a male human swashbuckler who secretly uses his powers to aide in piracy.

Air - Vi`el Qir'Val, a female rakshasa of the lion variety

Void - Kaida Tetsuyo, a transgender male half-elf ninja.

The story is obviously in a fantasy setting that has three kingdoms ruling the one major continent on this world. Magic is rare, expensive, and heavily controlled, and there is currently a tentative peace between the kingdoms.

Here are my ideas for the sixth character:

1. Gamridareus Jinglesmith - A young male half-human, half-gnome of a deep dwelling type who have even more sensitivity to light. His initial discovery of his powers affects his vision to where he can see the power and magic emanating from objects, and he is soon drawn to an object that is buried deep, but shines like a tiny sun to him. After many moons, he finds that it's merely a blindfold.

After putting it on, he discovers that it protects him from light and inverses the colors of the light sources. This will allow him to overcome his light-sensitivity while using his bright powers later on.

2. Angwyr ul'Yoos - a young adult female triton, which is an aquatic humanoid race. I like this idea in that, she would be the final character to collect, forcing the other five to work together to try and recruit her. Air would create a bubble of atmosphere. Void would create a barrier to protect the bubble. Earth would provide a platform on which to stand, and Fire would provide them with heat to survive the coldness of the depths of the ocean.

She would also need to be in a good relationship with Finndrel, the Water character, as he could provide her with the means to survive out of water. Could lead to a romantic relationship and its troubles.

3. Tyrius Volk - a young male half-dwarf, half-orc novice sorcerer. Not only a not-so-stable hybrid, but orcs and dwarves are always at each others throats despite the peace.

This character is a doozy. There's inner turmoil, scrutiny from both sides along with being ostracized, lack of wisdom and experience while having the greatest of the six powers, and then there's the innate magic that can be fueled and gas-lit by the Energy powers. A recipe for jail time, no doubt.


It took me a while to become inspired to brainstorm these characters. It came down to asking myself the right question. I feel that depth of character is an integral part to any good story, and so I asked myself, "Who would be interesting as a character that wields the most powerful of the six elements?"
