Is age - as opposed to experience and maturity - relevant in predicting the outcome of our life's innermost wishes?

The Muses, inspiration and thoughts floating by belong on paper, or do they?
People get inspired in different ways by different things: nature, God, music, people, memories... and, of course, drugs or alcohol, I'm told. I certainly remember how easy it was for me to get inspired after a glass of wine or two.. or three. Or just the entire bottle, which is a mere three(3) glasses, anyway. But what happens when you're on "your own" without the aid of any substance?

Now, don't get me wrong; to each his own; I'm far from judging. I'm just sorry I no longer drink my beloved chilled Chardonnay because I couldn't take the headache - and certainly not the bloating or weight gain. But I have to admit that I really enjoyed the buzz and am only glad that I got to do it for most of my adult life especially because my profession as a PR diva just went hand in hand with wine. My entire life was filled with people, events, parties, galas and fund raising: nothing like a buzzed soul to happily hand out a check for a good cause. I'll drink to that! Well, I did drink to that many a time - for a good cause, of course.

These days I find myself flashing back on my incredibly blessed life and experiences, so perhaps writing about them will be the inspiration. Just a few minutes ago, as I nibbled on my avocado toast sandwich, I pondered the subject. And the thought of "how little we know, or do we" at a certain point in our lives? Naturally, the older we become, the more experience we acquire but could we trust what we thought we wanted at 16 or 20 because, in our gut that is what we truly felt we wanted in our future?

I can only flash back at what I said at 16 and, sure enough, that's exactly what I ended up getting...no matter how many hoops I jumped in between. Eventually, my gut, deep down knew what I wanted...
