Success Story
It's been a while since I've written and I'm glad to be back... probably back to the pandemic but mostly because I've really missed the discipline of writing and its cathartic effects. A lover of words who is always writing in her head, it's nice to put it down where others can share in the experience.
I'm glad to be back, if a tad rusty. I'm trying to figure out where and how to start so I'll probably start by just sharing something about myself and the power of positive thinking, believing in a Power (God, in my case) higher than oneself - and certainly the power of GRATITUDE: A magical habit.
I've led an incredible life of which books are written and have been blessed with incredible experiences including rags to riches and back. I've lived in the best neighborhoods (still do) in the country, met all kinds of people especially through my profession in public relations in Santa Monica and Los Angeles and concluded that when it's all said and done, it is one's relationship with oneself - and God - that really matters: nothing earthly lasts forever. But that's NOT bad: it's wisdom!
Before you get the idea that I am a "Holy Roller," let me assure you I am not! My 'religion is the Golden Rule: sweet, short and simple. "Be nice; be kind; just BE." Just try.
That's what I try to do daily, in my senior building where it's not an easy gig to pull off. But during the last few months of the pandemic, truer than true colors show. And it's easy to understand why: as older folks, we are more vulnerable to the ravages of this deathly disease and will act in different ways - most folks out of fear and panic, frustration and despair.
Our Mass. governor, Charlie Baker, in one of his daily updates stated that IF all Americans, in ONE MONTH had united to wear masks, wash hands and social distance - as a country we would have pretty much gotten Covid 19 under control because that's what it would take. I agree. And I have done my part.
And I will continue to, difficult as it is. I don't cut corners. I don't shop, socialize or hit the gym, my TEMPLE, where I'm used to spending 3 hours daily - if not more because I love exercising.
Daily, long walks, Yoga and indoor exercising keep my sanity. Zooming with friends and AARP movies (or Prime/Netflix) and PBS are great. Reading is certainly a lifelong delightful pleasure - and whatever it takes to get through the day. One day at a time...
I hope to really immerse myself in writing and getting to know other authors and their works at Writers Den.
I hope to finish my book and publish it with the inspiration from other folks like you you may be kindly reading my words and the pouring out of my heart.
I am lonely. I am vulnerable; I am human, after all.
And I do not believe I have ever admitted that to anyone before - even myself!
