The Labrys: Lesbian emblem

     The lesbian emblem that we use today is called a Labrys, to represent the power of women and lesbianism. There is a need of lesbian tribalization, calling upon lesbian tattoo artists and lesbian jewelry makers.

     The Labrys is a double-headed axe. The Labrys appeared in Paleolithic cave paintings. Today, the labrys is used as a strong symbol of female empowerment, signifying lesbianism in particular, and appears in Wiccan ritual.

     The word 'lesbian' as we all know is derived from the island of Lesbos in Greece where originated the poems of Sappho.

     This link has often been the destination of cruises and other vacations for lesbians.

     Lesbonian authorities are expressing a dim reception of this. Actually, some lesbian cruise ships are being denied permission to dock in Lesbos.

     Perhaps if the warrioress emblem of the Labrys was worn as tattooes and distinguishing, bold and strong jewelry by lesbians, we would be feared as the group taking back the Bronze Age.

     In the Bronze Age, the art of this time, there is a distinction of red or blue streaks at the corners of eyes in the frescoes. The red and blue streaks are said to be caused by sufficient or insufficient amounts of carotene in the diet. Carotene can be supplied by saffron, and thus by crocuses.

     The different streaks point to the fact that the women of the Bronze Age in their crocus-gathering activity promoted the health of themselves and their children, and strongly denied men access to important vitamins. These women expressed affection to each other erotically.

     With this said, I think that it is a thought-provoking female-centered version of preclassical times and the Labrys is the tool these women used to harvest their power. At the same time, I view it as a castrating emblem. It is time for lesbians to wear the Labrys symbol.
