Fonda and Sweetwater what can it mean?! A landmark counterculture film and a touchstone for yet another generation that captures the cultural imagination
Sweetwater's outlaw biker film, and what it says about the Establishment after some 44 years ago since the Classic Cult Film Easy Rider starring Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson, written by Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, and Terry Southern, produced by Fonda and directed by Hopper. It tells the story of two bikers played by Fonda and Hopper who travel through the American Southwest and South. The success of Easy Rider helped spark the New Hollywood phase of filmmaking during the early 1970s. The film was added to the Library of Congress National Registry in 1998.
Easy Rider explores the societal landscape, issues, and tensions in the United States during the 1960s, such as the rise and fall of the hippie movement, drug use, and communal lifestyle. Easy Rider is famous for its use of real drugs in its portrayal of marijuana and other substances. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easy_Rider
Sweetwater's Biker Chronicles explores much of the same, tapping into the highly political-charged cultural pulse, pedophile priest issues, and touches on the Persian Gulf and Iraq war tensions in the years 1991, 2010, and the futuristic 2020 where the world is in a state of DYSTOPIA after the nuke. MARTIAL LAW has been imposed by the ruling class BIKERS to ENFORCE RULE over designated regions that extend into church and religious territories. Cannabis is now grown only in certain safe zones because the killer radiation raped the land and prevents growth. It is no longer a covert operation and these zones are called HORTICULT HIGHS. The marijuana trade is owned by the bikers. ZONE THREE WEED is the ultimate weed crop. It is cultivated in confiscated hothouses where the flower farms once sat. The bikers recycled the solar dome houses and make their living from selling deregulated pounds and ounces, trading it for Harleys and their parts.
Sweetwater's Biker Chronicles will include a cameo appearance by Peter Fonda riding the Captain America Harley-Davidson replica of the bike he rode in EASY RIDER. He is riding with Outlaw (Shooter Jennings) and Sister K. Starr (Jamie McCall) down the highway in a group formation.
