The marriage between writing and photography has been a happy one for me as I love both very much. This article is just about that.

I work as a secretary in a small law firm in Manhattan. I love working in that area because it's beautiful and full of history. During my lunch hour and sometimes after work I like to explore its streets and points of interest. Some of my favorite places are: the South Street Seaport; the Woolworth Building; the World Trade Center; City Hall Park, to mention a few. Tere's so much more to see in this relatively small area and it's amazing how you can always discover something new. You don't even have to take a bus or a taxi; your legs will do just fine and you won't miss many interesting details as you go along.

My passion is photography but I also love to write. I have never published anything in magazines or books but I feel that as long as I enjoy what I do, it really doesn't matter. Sharing ideas and images with other people is what makes me happy. Sometimes an image will give me an idea for an article or a poem but mostly I love photography for its visual impact. Colors, shapes, textures; I find everything interesting. One of my co-workers told me the other day "You would find even a back alley interesting!" And he's right!

One of my favorite pictures is one of a cherry tree in bloom, its branches loaded with pink flowers, bowing gracefully over a pond, forming a curtain behind which you can see its tranquil waters. I took that picture at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, last spring, in the Japanese Garden section, a wonderful garden full of surprises such as Japanese lanterns, a curved wooden bridge, bronze birds, turtles (these are real), a waterfall, and many other treasures.
