It's summer. A new day has dawned; one more scorching day with no relief in sight.
Red dawn. Bloody dawn.
The sun is rising,
a great red disk
like the swollen eye
of a drunken man
staring down at me,
at this parched world.
As I step outside
a hot wind,
like an invisible hand,
chases bits of paper
on the hot asphalt
like tumbling weeds
in the desert.
People walk, bent
under the weight
of a relentless heat
weariness in their eyes,
quiet desperation,
hopeless resignation.
Yet another day
in the city,
that never sleeps.
Now I know why.
It's too hot!

Sono giunta alla tua pagina perche' mi ha incuriosita vedere un nome italiano nella Author's list...anch'io son italiana ma ho vissuto a LOndra per un po' di anni e scrivo poesie in inglese.
Comunque complimenti! Hai uno stile di scrittura invidiabile!
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
The songs and art in this book are about our collective emergence after the pandemic and trauma of the last few years - comprised of 5 collections: World as Refuge, Where We Live, In Our Hands, Rhythms of Change and What We See & Sow.
