writing sample inspired by the question, What is the last thing you remember doing before you fell asleep?

Last night, I started reading James Patterson's novel "Honeymoon". The central character, Nora Sinclair, is a bit of a "black widow". When the story begins, she's engaged to one man and married to another. She's leading a double life. The storyline shifts between her life with one man, and her life with the other. What she's doing of course is getting close enough to a rich man to first murder him and then use her access to drain his various bank accounts, money market stuff and such. She's got herself a tidy little "nest egg" by the time an FBI investigator starts looking into her activities. That's as far in as I got before my eyes closed and I actually woke up at 3:30 am, needing the bathroom, with my glasses still on my nose and the book beside me on the bed. You know how kids sleep with teddy bears or blankies, well with me it was always books.
