A small article written by one of the students after one of his inventions in that school was a year old.

VOSINC RADIO TRANSMISSION - ONE YEAR OLD 92.0 F.M. MHz It was bafflement, a great thing indeed, and an attractive invention. Oh! It was quite an astonishing experience to Odaudu Mathias, who tuned his radio on one occasion in April 2004, expecting to listen to his normal F.M. programme. Contrary to Mathias’ expectation he heard nothing from the radio, but only sounds that indicated interferences of waves. What might be the cause? Odaudu asked as a “man” of limited knowledge, who needs to be satisfied with a befitting answer. Paul Ibekwe, who had confronted Basil while Mathias was wondering, suggested that it could be a radio station. This shifted Basil’s mind from his earlier plan of an intercom. However, this was yet unknown to Mathias, who was worried. In the course of the investigation of the cause of these astonishing interferences of waves, which shattered his expected programme, Mathias confronted Basil. On hearing this, Basil laughed and declared, the “Voice of Spiritans Isienu Nsukka Community” has emerged. Mathias generally known as “Monk” could not understand this. He never knew Basil to be a scientist and was quite aware that Basil never studied science. In fact, “Monk” was dumbfounded and needed a second listener to confirm what had triggered off his heart. Has a scientist emerged in the community? This was his possible thought and needed a satisfactory answer. In line with “Monk” one may ask; what is the secret of this technological ingenuity? However, a brief history of Basil could give the solution to this pressing problem. Ekenobi Basil Sunday was born in Ezinifite, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State on the 7th day of November 1986. He was born into the family of Late Mr. Igwe-Oguazi Ekenobi and Lolo Agela Nworiegwu Ekenobi. He is the third of the four children in the family. He grew up as a reflective and obedient boy. The parents deemed it necessary for the young Basil to acquire a solid education in order to enlighten the mind of this juvenile, a potential site for scientific inventions. He was admitted into Ezinifite Primary School in September 1984. At this early stage, nobody knew what would come out of the little lad. But one thing conspicuous was that the young Basil was just a quiet and reflective young boy. This charming attitude of the growing boy called the attention of every Tom, Dick and Harry. Furthermore, after graduating from Ezinifite Primary School, the young Basil expressed his interest to work in the vineyard of God. He was admitted into the Holy Ghost Juniorate Ihiala, on the 9th of January 1991. At the Holy Ghost Juniorate Ihiala, Basil started manifesting his artistic skill. He developed in poetry to the extent that many demand for the poem of Basil today. As it is a known fact that a reflective mind gives birth to rich scientific gadgets, Basil’s reflective attitude led him into the penetration of what is unknown to many. However, Basil Ekenobi graduated from Holy Ghost Juniorate in 1997. He was faced with a great challenge as with many adolescents; whether to continue the priestly journey he had started, or to join the rest of the world. After some period of reflection, he deemed it necessary to continue. He was admitted into the Spiritan Postulate in October 1998. He studied here for eight months and came to completion on the 18th day of June 1999. After Postulancy experiences, the young Basil was sent to Okija-Farm where he did his one year prefecting programme. To be candid during this one year, Basil shook everyone by his dedicated attitude towards work and his creative ingenuity. It was at this place that the young Basil became an expert in the poultry management. As a result of this creative and strong dedication to work, Basil won the heart of Rev. Fr. Nonso Odiaka, C.S.Sp. Oh great Basil! A man who works without complaints. At the completion of Ekenobi’s prefecting programme, he joined the Holy Ghost Novitiate Community on the 16th day of August 2000 – this was a rainy day. This perhaps, signifies that fortune has come into the community. The advent of Ekenobi into the Novitiate was the birth of miscellaneous initiatives into the novitiate. At the Novitiate, Basil displayed his creative ingenuity to a great percentage. He structured the Novitiate compound to an attractive state. Oh! Great Basil became a spontaneous gardener at the Novitiate. He planted some plants around the football field known as thunder protectors. Today these plants have grown up into trees. He planted ornamental plants at different places. In fact at this particular stage, Basil penetrated into the heart of Rev. Fr. Michael Ojobo. “The great Abba” and won his admiration. Moreover, Basil’s humility is transparent; whenever one chooses to call him “Basil the Great,” he rejects it. He rather says, “call me Basil the least, I will accept that.” Oh the humble heart produces enormous good to the world. In many occasions Basil displayed his ingenuity behind the curtain and others take the glory at the opened field. But many people would say “Basil come out and manifest your greatness to the world” but Basil would prefer to remain behind the curtain and keep the community glittering of creative ingenuity. Today Basil is in the Spiritan School of Philosophy, Isienu. He was admitted after his first religious profession (which occurred on the 22nd September 2001) on Monday 24th September 2001. Basil’s achievements at Isienu are glittering that people continue to wonder, what a marvelous endowments! In september2002, Basil constructed a battery-charger. He was not satisfied with this; he went further towards the manufacturing of “All-Weather- Fan” in collaboration with Meegu Gabriel, “ the African man” Basil today, has come up with something more precious, more stimulating, an invention that awakens the sleeping mind, a creative act that unites Isienu Community, “ The Vosinc Radio Transmission (V.R.T). The Vosinc Radio Transmission came up to Basil as a result of the advent of the night marauder into Isienu on the 27th of February 2003. Basil who was triggered off by the event, considered it necessary to manufacture a gadget for the transmission of information. He was intending to construct an intercom, where two people converse at a distance apart conveniently. In the course of the production of the intercom, Basil co-incidentally interfered with the radio wave and arrived at what is known today as “ Vosinc Radio Transmission” this came to a completion on the 25th April 2004. Nevertheless, the development of Vosinc Radio Transmission has never been stagnant; it is in a continuous process. On the 5th of March, Basil constructed the phoning boots where people react over the discussion from the radio. It provides a ground for asking and clarification of questions in the course of the programme. Vosinc Radio Station was done to be in a confined place but it has been advanced into a state of mobility. This achievement has been useful to the entire school. It serves as a ground for football commentaries, a ground for Spiritual nourishment, educational enlightenment and dramatic display. Priests like Rev. FR. Dr. Godwin Abiogu, Rev. FR. Isaac Madu, the spiritual director, and Rev. Fr. James Ibeh, the former bursar of Spiritan School of Philosophy, Isienu, have been interviewed on some occasions. It is also used for Saturday entertaining programme. As far as Isienu Radio Station is concerned today, Basil Ekenobi remains the founding father in as much as Odaudu Mathias remains an important figure. Odaudu Mathias demanded for a lunching of this radio station before the students, whose generous donations are needed for the growth of the radio station. John Patrick Nwokeji headed this launching on the 14th of October 2004. Students realized a considerable amount of money from the generous contributions. Furthermore, Mathias formed the team for the radio service on the 18th of October 2004. Today Jude Ekemgba, Jude Nzeako and Jude Nnadozie remain the prominent speakers and commentators of Vosinc Radio Transmission Service, while Justus Chukwu replaces Basil Ekenobi. The radio station can operate within an area of 250,000sq.m. Our thanks also extends to our Rector, Rev. Fr. Oliver Iwuchukwu C.S.Sp, who through his fatherly love, helps in the growth of these marvelous achievements, and secured a comfortable place for the site of this Radio Station. Finally, as the Vosinc Radio Transmission Service marks her first anniversary, Isienu community shall always remain grateful to Ekenobi Basil, who through his calmness and humility displays a great technological ingenuity. This has created an indelible mark in the history of Isienu. Oh Basil, more power to your elbow! Today humility has announced your greatness; your calmness has proved to the world that an ideal world can only be realized through calmness and humility.
