Poor Hosni Mubarak

The American People and the Arab People are Waiting.

Human beings are becoming less aware of their lives and those of their peers. I can state that today government and the media have more to say than the citizen, despite the so-called freedom of expression. Members of government including the president, once elected, forget the people who elected them. They are ignoring the rejection and the unhappiness of the people. I recall after WWII and during the few months when the administration was still absent, the people had to manage alone. This is when, for the first time I felt the human freedom. The people were more compassionate and had more understanding towards their fellow town people. This freedom that we felt, didn’t create any anarchy.

Recently I was listening to a lady journalist who was saying that despite the US$16 trillion in debt, America is still a rich country. I wonder where she got her information from. I told her, “Madam, no matter which wealth you are referring to, it will all eventually disappear if we continue to borrow many from outside and the human beings will not have anything to live on.

Unfortunately, something has changed in the human being fabric. The wars we thought were necessary made many people lose a member of their family and left many people wounded and handicapped, physically and emotionally. New faces appeared in our society, who returned from Iraq, Afghanistan or from another mission. The number of widows and orphans increased. We can feel the sadness in their eyes.

Now I, like many others, am wondering where our government is leading us. It is going to make new experiments at our expense and that of the new generation?  Are we going to learn another way of life?  What is the difference between the war and the people who follow blindly the so-called leader, without consideration for the human dignity and without any compassion? The importance is to win the election; whether the elected is mature or not, is irrelevant as long as he is likable.

Are we aware that the parties be they the Republicans or the Democrats are dividing us, dividing families, dividing brothers, dividing parents and children, dividing religions? I wonder what we are going to leave to our children and grandchildren.

When an entrepreneur makes a mistake he has to pay his due, by losing his house or his business or his reputation. When a government makes a mistake, what is it going to lose? The money lost is not even its money. Lately I learned a new expression called “Stimulus”. Can a small entrepreneur also get a stimulus, in order to survive and keep his business alive? The answer is no! This time even the European governments didn’t follow Obama’s suggestion to use a stimulus to create jobs, as he believed that the stimulus had created jobs in his administration.
