Invincible

We spend our entire childhood believing we are invincible. As a youth we perform careless and reckless activities believing nothing bad can ever happen. We are full of optimism, dreams and humor. Watching cartoons, playing video games, and eating ice cream are the favorite past times. The only responsibility is to go to school and perform a few chores.

As we get older we find ourselves less carefree and more reserved, grouchy, cynical and realistic. We keep current with the dark and dreary daily news and play the up and down stock market. We are overwhelmed with responsibility and societies expectations.

Constantly concerned with how people view us, we lose our childlike view.

It is through reading, and in my case writing, that youth and the carefree spirit is rediscovered.
