Men Of Bondage
by Mary Muhammad
Rated "G" by the Author.

My first reconigtion as a writer came with this article being published in my home towns local community paper. I a young twenty something had a large voice then. Even now my voice is speaking inspirations, courage, sensitivity to the young and old. My heart holds much for the life of children, women and men.

So many women are seeking for those good men like the ones we once knew. The ones that were able to hold a good job or any job. The ones that didn't mind the family life, the responsiblility, the strength and love that came from them being there in the home. Where are these men now? I see them yet it's not them at all. They are held bondage with themselves. They have allowed themselves to belong to the streets, to the drugs, to the alcohol that strips them of life, strengths, love and the responsibilities they need to continue to grow in mind, body and spirit. They have allowed themselves to be chained by these slaves within their own minds. Their hands are chained from the labor they need to keep their lives in focus. Their eyes are blinded from seeing the destruction they are bringing upon themselves. Their hearing is chained from the voice of hope and surety. their mouths are chained from speaking to each other about the needs they have and how they can prosper from the sharing of hopes and dreams. Their minds are chined from knowing the simple way to rid themselves of this bondage and let their will for life, love and responsibility be unleashed. Their hearts are chained from feeling the stress, concern and worries they impose upon the ones that love them the most. They are in bondage with themselves because they have to be the one to unlock these chains so they can have the mind to reach out for the help and love. To listen to the call upon them for the men they really are, and see the way their families need them as fathers, brothers and husbands. Your bondage can only last for as long as you allow it too. It will not go away by itself. You have to make it possibible, you have to say no! You have to stand up for your own sanity, your own strenghts, your own you and someone will be there to reach out to you and pull you the rest of the way. You are needed men in the world, and only you think you are not.Only you think you have no purpose. It's left up to you to pull out that key and release yourselves from the bondage that you feel you are trapped in. You must realize first you are a slave to your own self. Only then will you know.
