Maybe you’ve known someone that was trying to hide the horrible secret that they’d been burdened with, but not known what to do to help. Perhaps you’ve felt threatened at some point in your life, or worse, maybe you are being victimized now.
Predators thrive on having and maintaining power over the small and the weak, but No Hole Deep Enough, by Dana Hoesch, is about one victim taking back the control and finding the inner strength to go on. It’s easy to identify with Mattie’s strength, determination and will to survive, but the reader will be drawn into the story and share Mattie’s broad spectrum of emotions as if they were their own.
Abuse is everywhere. We see it on the nightly news, hear about in the workplace or even at school. Unfortunately, abuse is becoming all too common. The damage done to adults and children alike is appalling at best, horrifying at worst. Yet, abuse in all forms continues unabated.
Women and children are frequently the victims of vicious physical abuse and even more dangerous psychological abuse. Helplessness and fear dictate lives that should be defined by love. The feelings of safety and comfort are replaced with darkness, despair and isolation. Loneliness becomes a way of life, and each day is characterized by a fight to survive. Casualties of long-term abuse often suffer from psychological damage resulting from years of degradation, humiliation and shame.
Though physical abuse may be the easiest to detect, psychological abuse is just as bad, if not worse. Psychological abuse manifests itself as emotional maltreatment or verbal insults, which are every bit as painful as physical abuse and can leave invisible scars from which the abuse victim may never recover.
No Hole Deep Enough, by Dana Hoesch, is the story of Mattie Moorehaven; a survivor, unwilling to relent to the emotional demons that haunt her.
