Recommended ... 4. 5 stars The Review Told in first person, we read of a little boy, three or four years old, who is enthralled by all the sights, sounds and fun of the Christmas Holiday. He sees a Giant Santa through the car window on his way to preschool. There are pretty lights here and there and, at the park are animals made of colored lights. He goes with his family to Grand Parents house where he finds his aunts and uncles and lots of new toys, but then all changes. He doesn’t understand why there is no more Santa, and no more lighs, and no more animals made of colored lights at the park. Even a trip to Grand Parents disappoints. The little boy is happy to play with his toys, but the aunts and uncles are gone. He wonders when Christmas will come again, tomorrow perhaps? Christmas Ends is a nice little account intended particularly for the youngest set and parent to enjoy together as they witness Christmas through the eyes of the portrayed child. Grandparents will perhaps remember when their children were also this age. Illustrator Beers does a commendable job picturing the little boy’s awe for things he sees and doesn’t quite understand. Writer Fator captures the mixed feelings children undergo as they struggle to put all things into perspective. The PDF format I received is an easily navigated work even the youngest readers will be able to use with minor to no difficulty. Once little ones are shown how to click onto the icons appearing on each page, limited parent or teacher help will be necessary for youngsters 3 - 5 to begin independent use of the eBook. Page changes glide open in a nice smooth manner unlike the ones found in the older PDF formats. Even the youngest user should quickly catch on to the symbols for moving pages ahead and back. Vocabulary used in Christmas Ends by author Fator targets beginning readers. Christmas Ends is another edition that works well as a ‘read to’ for the youngest set 3-5 when parent and child cuddle for a bedtime read, it is a read alone for the advanced 5s – 8, and “I’ll read to my little brother/sister” for the 8-10 crowd. Christmas Ends is sure to be a valuable addition to both the home and school library. The book is ideal for a preschool, kindergarten-first grade classroom Christmas, or Holiday unit.
