Sabra Brown Steinsiek’s Timing is Everything introduces Taylor Morgan as a seven year old who voices a desire to become an actor, singer when he is all grown up.

Moving into the narrative The Reader soon learns that Taylor is now all grown up, has indeed become an actor, singer, is now orphaned; his parents died in a train derailment on their way to New York to hear him on Broadway.

During the intervening years between age seven and the Broadway debut; Taylor has grown up in Woodland, California, sponsors a children’s charity, has gained a god child and spends a good bit time traveling between his home in Tampa, Florida and wherever his latest concert is being held.

The Albuquerque Herald reporter, red haired Laura Collins is given the assignment to get an interview with the celebrity when he arrives for a concert in New Mexico.

Steinsiek draws the reader into a fast paced narrative filled with happy family home life, an evening TV reporter who is more than a little duplicitous, a growing friendship between Laura and Taylor maintained in part via emails as Taylor is on tour.

On the pages of Timing is Everything Writer Steinsiek has produced a vibrant, convincing narrative complete with outstanding well developed characters, interactions and dialogue between the characters that is believable, holds reader interest and forwards the narrative in smooth manner.

Pretense and deceit, as well as, kindness, empathy and sensuality abound.

Timing is Everything holds reader attention with an intriguing storyline filled with stimulating twists and turns, realistic characters set against a back drop of fascinating locales, and, at times somber thesis in a tale moving quickly from New Mexico, to New York, to Florida and even Italy as  the growing romance between Taylor and Laura weathers some very difficult situations neither had anticipated.

I found Steinsiek’s Timing is Everything to be a well written, chronicle combining a good sense of place filled with family and local way of life and traditions in addition to notable locales meant to draw the reader into the narrative with in-depth descriptions of landscape, the New York stage scene, and a storyline that is both heart wrenching at times and a tender romance at others.

Characters are likeable, believable and worthy with the exception of one lout who is truly despicable. Dialogue between characters is well done, credible and filled with nuances as is found in spoken words.

CAUTION!  Watch for red herrings intertwined with those notable locations, appealing character interaction, a surprise or two along the way all designed to keep the reader turning the page.

Timing Is Everything, first novel by Sabra Brown Steinsiek, is celebrating its 15th anniversary.

Not for everyone, some graphic sexual content including a brutal rape and coarse language may prove
to be more than some readers care to encounter. Language and assault were not added a shock value, but are an integral part of the storyline.

I was born in southeastern New Mexico in the town of Carlsbad. Some of my first memories have to do with going to the library and I cannot remember a time I didn't want to grow up to be a librarian.

While I never made it to a degree, I was fortunate enough to have a long career in libraries, including the University of New Mexico School of Law and Medical libraries, The Albuquerque Public Libraries as a children's specialist, and as Children's Librarian in the Carlsbad Public Library in my home town.

Librarians have had a huge influence on my life.

My latest work in progress is a dual time period ghost story set in Venice, Italy. I was fortunate to recently fulfill my dream of going to Venice - my entire bucket list! Now it's time to finish up this book
and go on to set some new dreams and goals.
