THE TOTAL WOMAN
First of all, let’s look at being a woman. It is truly a honor to be a woman. She sits high and stand tall, but yet at the same time, she has a certain kind of meekness - she has poise and is soft spoken. A woman is the more gentle of the genders, and is the one who yields her soft hand to the feverish child stricken in the night. She is the family's peacemaker, bread baker, tear wiper, song singer and the story-teller as she watches her young grow in the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of Jesus Christ. For this particular woman, we call Mother.
It is usually the mother who first teaches us about God, if not our own, then someone's mother has been responsible for introducing us to the man from Galilee. It was our mother who first told us to put our trust into the promises of Jesus. For through His life and death, we shall be renewed, and death shall not end our journey of His blessings, but carry us on to much greater rewards, to the promise land, we know as Heaven.
It is from such mothers that we are taught to grow in the spirit of Jesus, so that as adults, we become better women in roles which calls for our expertise, as sisters, as mothers, as wives; helping those who surround us as we all progress toward a more civilized life and mission.
Sisters, although we come from different walks of life, we share in common a bond which brings us together today, and that is our faith and knowledge in the existance of one man, Jesus Christ. Some of us are conventional or traditional, some of us are liberated and sophisticated, while others may not have been so fortunate, but through the help of some one who had a strong influence in our lives, we have met the challenges and the promises within the word of God.
The wife, she stands by her companion and shares his dreams. She is his anchor when his weights become heavy. She is very special, more precious than she will ever know. She walks not behind him because sometimes he is uncertain, she walks not in front of him because God said the husband in the head of the wife, but rather she walks beside him hand-in-hand, through the storms, the rain, and the sunshine because she know that God will take them through the test of time.
We have all been brought to this place because of that one Solitary life, Jesus. He is our source, our strength, and our help in troubled times. We live each day in His blessings, and we know that He is good, His truth last forever and He will prevail throughout the storms of our lives.
Jesus of Nazareth taught us to pray; forgive our enemies, and to care the sick and the dying. He taught us to go into the prisons, and to feed His sheep; whether we distribute food for the empty stomach or with the word, for the empty soul. Jesus is our provider, our refuge, our strong tower, and our joy for tomorrow.
We must walk in the light of His path, with each other, helping each other; we can then lift up holy hands and rejoice in the Salvation of God through His son, Jesus Christ.
Women, know your assignment in life and master the plan that God has set before you; build, heal, and restore our sisterhood one sister at a time. We are wonderfully, fearfully, and creatively made in the image of God. We have the power to change our course and move forward in the plans for our lives. We have the power through prayer to change the course of our children and grandchildren. We have the power to build a bright tomorrow.
Let us rejoice forevermore. Let us dance and sing the melodies of praise to God from the mountain top to the our laptop, from our homes, our villages, our churches, our community; let your voice be heard. Reach out and touch someone alone the way and uplift and encourage those who have fallen by the way side of life.
Let the Lord anoint you to carry on, for with Him, you are never ever alone.
