enthralling! it really draws you in!, October 27, 2008 By  D. Gorman "Crystalline Structure Moon" - Obviously, Collins put a lot of work into this book. And it translates to a fascinating story that really grabs and holds the reader's interest. The history of the characters is very believable. I almost sensed an autobiographical feel to the characters, beginning with the grandparents' meeting in WWII, right up to the present day. There is also a deep religious slant to this book. But even as a die-hard agnostic, this didn't put me off. It was an engrossing tale, and I couldn't put the book down. The villain who will stop at nothing to get what he wants, including torture and murder is a frightful character. And the heroes are easy to empathize and sympathize with. You find yourself identifying and caring about these people in their quest to survive and escape their 'inevitable fate'. I strongly recommend this book. According to Erin Collins and her first novel Shadow Walk--it will end with the devil coming among us as a friend. the Gathering is only the beginning. We see the generations that, unknowingly have influened the beginning of the world of the Devil. Most are normal, wonderful people. Some meet bad ends. But, from beginning to the gripping end, we see a transition to the moment where the devil emerges. I, for one, can't wait to see what happenes in the next novel in the series. Patricia A. Erin Collins has written a very scary scenario. The protagonist is pure evil and even generations of good characters can't seem to defeat him. These days it is certainly not all that hard to believe that parts of our government have been taken over by evil forces. Imagine Satan was a major player in the govenment and had been running genetics testing...looking for a suitable vessel to give bith to...the AntiChrist! Yikes! One of the survivors of genetics testing returns and builds a life with his love...and she gets pregnant...now enter the Roswell New Mexico incident - supposed alien autopsies...it all is in the mix. Satan's nastiness, alien mentality, and brilliance - a powerful combination! Ms. Collins spins the story to the true vessel of the AntiChrist and how she came to follow the prophecy. It is chilling. The ending of this book is not only frightening, it is one of the most spellbinding I've read. End of days stories have been a point of interest in these really dismal times we are living in...Ms. Collins' spin is unique and works beautifully in this story. He raises "goose bumps" when I think of him. Plenty of heroes and heroines to give hope for a triumphant outcome, but still one does wonder. While it is an "End Times" novel it is definitly not in the usual stereotypical style. As a child coming of age during World War II, the portrayal of events of that era are very well researched, from clothing style to victory gardens. The romance between Ethan and Danielle captured my emotions. Their heartbreaking struggle against evil is a page turner. Other characters are as finely drawn as these two, keeping the suspense alive until the last page and beyond. Margaret Hardy
