My heart is shattered.

It's been a week since you told me you loved me but wasn't in love with me. I've tried to forget you. Tried to drown my sorrows. I'm trying now to breathe each and every minute, knowing you are gone, without crying. You were so much more than my partner. You were my lover, my friend, my confidante, my everything.

My friends tell me I should be angry with you. My friends tell me to forget that you even existed. You left your cat, your winter coat, a lot of your things here. I look at them, smell them hoping to catch your scent. When I do, I cry. When I don't, I cry. I miss touching you so much.

I keep hoping the hole in my heart closes. It's only been a week. I miss you.

It's going on three weeks. I know, I have been remiss in writing. I took a lover, working on mending my heart. I saw you a couple days ago, and the memory of your face burns into my memory. I wrote you so many emails, I sent them too. You only responded to one. You let me go, why can't I let you go? You say you fell out of love with me. I didn't get a fighting chance. I still love you, to my shame. I don't cry every time I think about you. You mentioned you'd like to be friends. I don't know if that's possible. My heart is still bleeding.

I wish I knew what went wrong.

I'd like to say I'm over you. I'd like to say my heart is clear. In a way, it's true . I'm moving on. I've let go. I'm not looking back, I'm looking forward. I hope the best for you. I wish you well. I'm healing.
