The evening grows even more still watching the silent descending mantle of darkness.Birds cease their singing.
The moon glides accross the skies as graceful as a ballet dancer sending a soft glow upon the land.
I love this time of day. No one walks the streets in the countryside instead, lights go on in windows as occupants settle down to dinner or watch television while tots peer through windows hoping to see the man in the moon.
Their parents miss the ethereal beauty of this rare moment.
Suddenly, the silence is shattered by a howling dog hurling insults at the moon. A train chugs noisily along leaving ear shattering echoes in the air and then adds a long toot of its horn with ensuing Echos
The owl awakened by the noise hoots his complaints, then settles down again.
Dusk has descended, street lights come on.The moon now in total splendor reigns supreme dashing shadows to the wind.
At last, I turn in for the night only to listen to the snore of one in deep slumber and the sound of crickets through my window singing their lullabies.
Good night, sleep tight....
