"Americans have killed God and want Muslims to bury him." That's true of
many Americans, but not formally of the nation.

When they quoted, "The Americans have killed God and they want us Muslims to bury him," both the Ayatollah Khomeini and Osama Bin Laden were quoting the main mentor of Al Queda, Sayid Qtub. To all of them America is just like other modern democracies, formally godless.
Yet Qtub claimed that all human governments are godless. They are truly Satanic. Why? To legislate is a divine prerogative. Only God can enact law. To obey a human law is to submit, and to submit is to worship. Submission to men is idolatry. Satan loves that. Islam has its Koran. Sola Scriptura. It needs no human governments. Man cannot cooperate with God, even act under God.
Only God may claim submission and worship. Obedience to laws? Awful!
Qtub ignored America's state constitutions, all of whose preambles acknowledge God. Worse, he ignored the Declaration of Indpendence which began with God, ended with God, and built its entire case on God, whom it acknowledged even prayefully as the Supreme Legislator, the Supreme Judge, and the Supreme Governor, of the world.
Inside its view, men can cooperate with God, share or participate in His divine authority (and power) to legis-
late, execute, and judge, requiring submission aa a duty owed both to man as well as God simultaneously, as long as human rulers are acting under God.
The Declaration never contested King Goerge's authority over the rest of the British empire. It was his authority over America he had forfeited. Non-submission had become a duty and not just a right. God no longer backed up the King's might with
right.
