For me, writing feeds a hunger. While I cannot carry a tune, do not excel at a sport, do not draw well at all--I have a way with words and desire to share this. It is what I hope will be my legacy.
As good a reason as any. I have a burning desire to share things with others. By writing what I think down and sharing it with others, I may be contributing, in a small way, to civilization. And I may not. But at least, thanks to the Internet, my written legacy will be around much longer than I am and may be rediscovered someday in the future, like finding Elvis alive.
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
