Last night the winds wept. The horrible banshee howling at the height of the Cat 3 hurricane made us anxiously cringe. As we cracked open our front door to peek, it looked like the ocean was only a few feet away from our doorstep. Angry black currents roared through the flooded streets, rising past the palm tree on our lawn.
Hurricane Irma was no joke. She had already ripped through the Caribbean shredding beautiful islands David and I had just recently visited on our cruise. The next morning emotionally and physically exhausted we hugged each other, thankful that there was hardly any damage to our property and the raging waters had receded. As we sat back on our couch like wet dish rags, I suddenly noticed that the wind which had howled so eerily the night before now sounded like an enchanting flute. I listened keenly and could distinctly hear an exquisite flute melody. I thought to myself this is certainly Lord Krishna playing His celestial flute. He is reminding us that at the center of everything is Divinity. All that we experience in this time bound world passes like the ephemeral dream it is. Our essence, the nucleus of our existence is eternal and imperishable.
Sri Krishna our radiant God, the Brightest Star illumines inner and outer worlds. His holy breath flows through the flute of our being. We are Radha eternally embraced, ecstatically dancing with our beloved forever.
A week earlier, we, too, experienced Harvey with a lot less wind and much more flood and came out, like so many of our fellow Houstonians without flooding in our houses. But as you know, both Harvey and Irma did great damage to many and our heart goes out to them for what they have suffered.
