In the hardscrabble times of the Bible. It's found on a trail where willow poles 10-20, bent in arcs, by those who went before us. -The One at the Altar
It's 2015. Leadership is given its role. The One at the altar points out the moss on the rocks under the snow lives, when the spring thaw comes. In the hardscrabble times of the Bible, where there were plagues, invasions from foreign powers, and swarms of locusts.
The One gives the sermon on learning how to find your direction by the way moss grows on the side of the tree. Moss is probably the best known natural navigation indicator in the world. It is also excellent at demonstrating how easy it is to go wrong if you take the wrong path.
For many decades natural navigation has been treated as a skill that is only likely to be used in an emergency and consequently it has too often been written about and taught as a deception of tricks. There is a problem with this approach. Tricks are never accurate. This is understanding why the One at the altar's method actually works.
If you learn the trick that moss grows on the north side of trees and rocks, then it may help you sometimes, but it will hinder you on an equal number of occasions. If you learn that moss does not care about north or south, but it requires a moist surface to thrive on, then your chances of using it to find direction accurately are greatly increased.

No one goes where the moss grows anymore. Unless they have their trusty GPS, that is. Sad that we can't navigate without some kind of device.
