Each day it occurs to me that everyone has an inner god and an inner demon. We find ourselves fighting a battle between good and evil and our hearts determine the way we must travel. Do we let our blessings rule our actions or do we let our hates and anger sway our outcomes. Monday we may allow the dark reign, Tuesday we may choose the lighter path. Why do we have these terrible tensions within us? I think we have been given both awesome and terrible burdens. We must choose a side as time and evolution and the hand of our spiritual guides has given us the responsibility to make choices. I see misfortune if we choose incorrectly and that is what our spiritual god has provided to use as a mirror to hold up to our face and show us the correct path. Have we chosen wisely?
Each decade that we live exposes us to more and more battles of right vs. wrong, and to see outcomes of the actions taken in this battle. We see it in ourselves and we see it in others. Do we give up in the face of adversity or do we fight until breath subsides? When a young man decides that his current love has left him does he destroy his own blessed life or does he look into the future as clear eyed man and realizes that this is not the end but a new beginning! Good vs evil is ever present in our lives.
I must look for the light not the dark to make GOOD choices. I must find the path that is not as easy yet is the path to rightness and love. I must resist the path to darkness as it DOES lead to destruction and despair. I am obligated to inform others to see the light, to seek the correct choice and to accept that not all will see the path as I see it. All of us have a destiny to fulfill, good or evil, we choose and the pattern of life plays out.
In the twilight of my life I see I have made more positive choices then negative ones. I am content that I have chosen wisely MOST of the time. I follow the light when it offers me a choice and the reward is self- satisfaction. Whatever choice you make, please, realize that no decision is cut in stone. Each of us can change direction and choose another path.
Fortunately, I do not wake up every morning fighting battles between good and evil. My philosophy includes accepting many things that some people consider evil as rather normal and benign behavior. Once one is able to do that without being influenced by others who may claim certain things are evil or not, it is much easier to live a life free from strife and on a more even keel by avoiding their preaching.
