What is Transmedia Writing and why is it relevant to every aspiring writer? This article, originally presented as a talk at the Bendigo Fringe Festival in August 2014, defines relevant terms whilst presenting a personal journey of discovery.

Transmedia (or cross-media or multi-platform) story-telling is all the rage in the writing world these days. Birthed during the media revolutions of the latter part of the 20th century and the early part of the 21st, TM story-telling introduces truly revolutionary changes to traditional notions of narrative. Dr Ian Irvine (Hobson) is the author of two novels, a book of poetry and an acclaimed nonfiction book on chronic forms of alienation and ennui. His works have featured in various Australian national writing anthologies as well as in over 100 journals and magazines. He has co-edited over 20 writing anthologies and has taught as a creative arts educator and some times course coordinator since 1994. He is the founder and chief songwriter of the alt. rock band Interstitium, and was also the lead singer and co-songwriter of Australian alt rock band "Goya's Child (Original)" before his departure in 1994.

Some interesting concepts presented. While the quill pen and ink pot were a bit before my time, I started out with pencil and lined paper, and hardcover books as the source of knowledge. There were very interesting dramas and real life episodes on radio, but that was about it. By high school, I was using ballpoint pens (soon to be followed by felt pens) for all of my writing… often typed on a manual 1916 Royal typewriter my mother picked up used. And often illustrated after discovering the power of a flip chart or slide presentation.
I always embraced new technology and have tried to mix media in both classroom teaching in my creative endeavors. Sometimes, it was only new technology that allowed me to continue. For me, there would be no writing without Transmedia writing…. It's the way we are quickly embarking into a brave new world of communication.
Essays dedicated to the new media, doing business on the web, digital content, its creation and distribution, e-publishing, e-books, digital reference, DRM technology, and other related issues.
This book is about Poetry. Many different kinds of fables, short stories about life experiences, laughter, drama, children, humor, love, inspiration and some urban styles of poetry.
With the new and exciting world of Kindles and Print-on-Demand (POD), Independent Publishing is becoming an enticing choice and a viable alternative to traditional publishing.
