The way of the world has changed forever. As a favor to those who want to make travel as hassle-free as possible, felt I should share the knowledge I have with others who want to travel the world instead of the people getting to the customs gate and going, 'whoopsies!'.
"When I Travel The Globe, What Documents Do I Need"
Effective January 1, 2003, under the provisions of the “BORDER SECURITY ACT”, cruise lines, airlines and tour operators must begin providing the federal government with travelers’ key personal information. These informational requirements will become standard for all bookings as part of the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS).
The following information must be collected for all bookings:
Full Name (as it appears on the proof of citizenship)
Date of Birth
Gender
Nationality
Country of Residence
Document Type (P=Passport, V=Visa, A=Alien Registration)
Document Number
Document Country of Residence
Document Expiration Date
City of Issuance
Passengers traveling to international destinations must provide valid proof of citizenship and proof of identity.
Proof of citizenship consists of one of the following:
Passport (Preferred)
Original or state certified copy of birth certificate (photocopies are not acceptable)
Certificate of naturalization
Certificate of citizenship
Proof of identity consists of one of the following:
Valid driver’s license with photograph
Government identification card including physical description and photo
Applicable to passengers 16 years of age and older Children traveling with only one parent must present either a notarized letter granting the child permission to travel out of the country, or a copy of the death certificate if the other parent is deceased. A child traveling with an adult who is not the parent or legal guardian must possess a notarized letter of consent form the parent/guardian authorizing the minor to travel as well as receive emergency medical treatment.
