After watching this movie for about twenty minutes, I just paused it. Why? You may ask. Because I knew I just HAD to write a Review.
So far, it is absolutely EXCELLENT!

Jeff Daniels portrays a successful writer, Arlen Faber, who wrote a Best Seller, entitled “Me and God.” It was so successful that others wrote many subsequent books that were all Spin-Offs, like “Me And God Diet.” Naturally, many of these were major successes also. Needless to say, he became filthy Rich and Famous - BUT ...

The story starts off with him - Twenty Years Later - he has evolved into a foul-mouthed, cantankerous, grouchy Recluse, who Curses God! Why? We may ask. He now believes his books do Not Work - and he wants to get rid of them at a little Used Book Shop.

Enter Ross, played by Peter Patrickios, a young man who owns this shop, and who just got out from twenty-eight days of Rehab for Alcoholism. But Alas! His girl-friend lost the key to the store, so it has been Closed for said Twenty-Eight Days! The book store owner and the writer sort of ‘Lock Horns’ a bit, shortly thereafter.

Arlen has a Failed Marriage, an Ex, Kris, played by Lou Taylor Pucci, who is still his Agent, and a Bad Back! The scene where he is Trapped on the floor, writhing with Pain, and she refuses to help him, is Hilarious!

He literally Crawls down the street on all fours, like a dog, and goes to see a brand-new female Chiropractor, Elizabeth, played by Lauren Graham, and is actually her very First Patient. This is also another hilarious scene. Thus far, the writing, dialog, and ‘One-Liners’ are Terrific!

It is now about eighty minutes later into the film. The evolving relationships between Arlen, Elizabeth and her little son, Alex, and Ross, and their subsequent set-backs - give us a ‘bird’s-eye’ view into the interrelationships of human beings’ - self-fears, inner emotions, and lacks of self-confidence. Can it all be resolved? Will it?

Does ‘The Answer Man’ have all the Answers? If you want to know the Answer to this question - Rent the Movie - It’s a TEN in my humble opinion!
