When writing, it sometimes is difficult to think of a chapter title or even a title for the book; when we read articles in the newspapers or in a magazine, it is often the title which catches our attention and draws us into turning to the page to read what the article is about. Titles can be big and bold, with eye-catching wording and punctuation, and sometimes titles can be smaller and less noticeable and yet can still hold a heart-gripping story which also deserves our attention.
The same can be said of products that we might purchase from the shops, for example clothes. Some of us don't care about the make or the label of the item of clothing, we just buy what looks nice and is comfortable for us, whereas others look for the designer label and won't buy anything unless it is a particular make or brand. When we go food shopping, we are bombarded with offers and posters advertising new products, we receive leaflets through the post offering deals on buying three for the price of two, and supermarkets have price-wars on products and use every effort to ensure they have the maximum sales.
We only have to drive on the motorways and we can see bright electronic billboards advertising technology or the latest new range of car. The headings and titles are there for us to notice what is being advertised and these titles can often stick in our minds.
For me and all other fellow authors, it is essential to have a good title for the book or the series of books, one that will stand out and be remembered, and one that will create intrigue and interest. Likewise, the chapter title should also be bold and interesting, giving the reader a slight insight to what that chapter will be about, but not to much to give the whole plot away.
My series of books 'Keepers of the light' is a sci-fi action, adventure, mystery series, with the first book titled 'Emergence'. As a child I read all the C.S.Lewis Narnia books and also all the J.K.Rowling Harry Potter books, both which are completely different but really inspirational books with strong story-lines and relatable characters.
We can all find inspiration from many different sources, books being one of my main ones, so why don't you head off to the local book store or library, or go on-line to search, you will be amazed at how many good books there are for you to delve into.
