Does Exceptional Customer Service Lead to Business Success?
9/4/2008 3:34:29 PM

In a world where countless other companies offer products or services with virtually the same features and pricing, what is it that makes one stand apart from their peers?

Quite often, the answer is service. And not just ordinary service, but exceptional service.

Take for example, the airline industry, deeply impacted in recent months by skyrocketing fuel prices. As ticket prices soared, airlines began tacking on additional fees to help defray their costs. As can be imagined, passengers weren’t at all happy about it. After all, why should you have to pay extra just so your luggage can make the trip, too?

In the midst of these troubling times, Southwest Airlines has proven to be the exception. Judicious planning has helped them to effectively manage fuel and aircraft maintenance expenses allowing them to focus on what they’re best known for – great service.

Southwest’s unique company culture has a strong emphasis on service. They have invested heavily in their employees, maintaining a positive and supportive environment, and providing them with the tools and resources necessary to deliver exceptional service.

The moral of the story? Building a culture with a foundation of service excellence can help your organization achieve success, even during difficult economic times.
