Somehow, some female employee at my place of employment (read day job) was offended by an image of a well endowed state trooper on a postcard taped to my locker depicting my book cover. It is Mara in uniform, the main female protagonist in Freckles: Angel on Her Shoulder. How it was offensive is beyond me, my supervisor and the great majority of my crew. I am not a professional artist, but in the spirit of do-it-yourself I drew Mara the trooper. The lines could have been softened more, but I did the best I could. The complaint read "the breasts were too well defined on her". My supervisor sympathized with me, but he told me in the "interests of company liability" that he had to" request that I take it down." He let me know that he thought it was "ludricrous that anybody complained in the first place." He said that it didn't matter that "only one person complained about it," that the "zero tolerance policy came into play regardless." The tyranny of the minority reigns supreme. These so-called do-gooders (right wing wackos in my book) want to stifle reasonable freedom of expression. The lack of consensus on what is generally deemed acceptable allows these folks to write their own rules. Democracy is lost this way. I did not make this cover to go out of my way to offend people, but I hope my girl invites you inside to a good read. Resist these do-gooders whenever you can, before all freedom is lost.
