Perception of Relationships
10/6/2010 1:51:14 PM

Relationships are a funny thing. When you think of the word ‘relationship’ you automatically think of romantic involvement or even a long-term friendship. Rarely do you think of a brief meeting with someone you have just met.

You can have a family member or lifetime best friend who may not have the capability or the time to give you the assistance that you need at a particular point.  It is not necessarily a bad thing, as everyone has certain knowledge in a few particular subjects; they can’t always know everything.

Then, you can meet someone somewhere unexpected, such as a train station, supermarket, airplane, doctor’s office, job interview, etc., and find out that this person’s thought process can actually offer insight and clarification.

It does not mean this individual will be a life-long friend or you may never even talk to this person again, however just getting the perspective from a stranger can give you the motivation you require or clear away the cobwebs from a difficult or nagging decision or conflict.

Moral of the story:  It pays to be open-minded and look at situations from a different point of view once in awhile especially from someone that you do not know who has no reason whatsoever to agree OR argue with you.

I’ve found that just listening to another viewpoint can help shed some light or open the doorway to opportunities that you never thought existed.

Just be sure to weigh each opinion carefully, making sure the final opinion or decision is your own!
