How Unwanted Dreams Came About by Elizabeth Parker

Ever wonder what goes through the author's mind as they are writing? If so, here's a little trip through mine.
Unwanted Dreams was written with two things in mind:
For one, I have had dozens of ‘dark’ thoughts simmering around in my head, always spooking the person I am with by saying “this would be the perfect spot for a horror movie” or, when looking at a random person walking, I’d joke and say, “This guy is a definite serial killer!”
One of my most recent thoughts was about a father who seems to be the notorious good guy, unleashing his fury at the most unexpected of times and taking the story from there to whole new levels. While that still might happen in future stories that I create, I decided to change direction and put an unusual spin on things.
Unwanted Dreams is meant to leave the reader with a wide range of diverse emotions; from serenity, to happiness, to sorrow and to fear; all in no particular order.
The second part of this writing comes from strange nightmares that I’ve had, continue to have and keep track of. I’ve never been one for dream therapy, but I am fascinated with the way that the sleeping mind works.
Instead of fearing nightmares, I sort of embrace them. As I look back at the ones I have had and written down, some have left me with fits of laughter and some have truly made me question if someone must have spiked my drink the night before.
As I went through reading my nightmares, I picked the most outlandish ones, incorporated them with my dark thoughts and hence, “Unwanted Dreams” was brought to creation.

I do believe you, Elizabeth, but it's rather amazing that you are able to remember nightmares. Occassionaly I'll remember one, well, it's not usually exactly a nightmare as, when I have those kinds of dreams there will be a residual effect and I will awake wishing I had a (willing) lady with me; you know what I mean. But I can see how one's nightmares, if remembered might make a very good novel and I do wish you the very best of luck.
