Child self-defense????!!!! 2/14/2004 9:52:58 AM
I have just learned that, sadly, another beautiful flower has been plucked away from us, in Sarasota. I keep going back to that tape of Carlie's abduction: She didn't seen afraid, didn't appear to fight back. What has happened to child self dense training?? "Stop, drop, kick and scream!", Fire, fire, fire!", "Stranger danger, stranger danger!"
This kind of training should be mandatory in every daycare center, every School, and every home! I have always taught my children to NEVER EVER, take short cuts, always stay on the main street, stay visible! This is not something we teach our kids once, and think they've got it. It must be enforced regularly! Everytime we read of another abduction, we should take head, see where we can teach our kids to avoid this situation. Shouldn't this kind of training be a vital part of the child safety task force?? How much would it cost to put flyers in all schools?? I barely make above minimum wage, but I'll gladly contribute!!
Children sould be taught that, when faced with possible abduction, they have to be defensive!! Refuse to be taken away! Fight back! A loud scream is as affective as a siren! A hard bite is a good defense tactic! A hard kick to the groin or shin of a would-be abductor, can cause enough pain to give the child a chance to get away! The Amber Alert is not enough! It's only sounded After an abduction is confirmed. We need to prevent the abductions, by being more aware, and teaching our children to be more aware, and defensive, of the possible dangers in this world! Please!! Anyone reading this, please share it with anyone, and everyone, you feel can use this information!! We must get more involved in the safety of our kids!
