My thoughts and memories are usually integrated through my unique tales that come from the heart. Putting back the clock

Time travel: Is it truly probable that one day the human race will be able to physically travel back in time? Personally, I leave it open and state that the way that technology is advancing, anything is possible. But lets be honest here, if given a once in a lifetime opportunity, how many people would physically want to travel back to the days of their childhood, and if they did travel back, why? To change the past, the way they lived, the way they had enjoyed making friends, change the bad times?
The other day a lady stopped me and stated how much she enjoyed reading my column in the T&A as it brought back wonderful memories of her own childhood.
Memories, wonderful aren’t they, and in a way, they are a form of time travel, just the sight of an object or a familiar smell can trigger my memories of years gone by. One time a certain brand of soap sent me back the year 1974 when I was learning to dive at Fort Bovisand I remembered the day, the cannonballs that I collected, and I can see that it was a nice sunny day. The sight of an old sea chest sent me back to 1959 and for a moment I was in my aunt Chrissie’s room and she was sat reading her Braille book, I even saw the blue flowery dress that she wore underneath her pinafore.
I know that there are people around who wish for the “good old days.” A few have said that if there was the slightest chance, they would change certain aspects of their childhood, especially the bad times, and I have to ask myself why anyone would want to change the bad times, as memories of the bad times can be just as enjoyable as remembering the good times. I have plenty of bad memories, but I smile to myself when I think of the certain ways at the time that I overcame them, like the time I was stabbed in the hand for attempting to take a slice of bread from the kitchen. At the time my knees buckled, the pain was unbearable, but later as my hand healed, I played on the injury, and I received extra treats or got out of doing certain chores, but the best thing was that the incident made my dad a better man, he didn’t belt us any more, he spent more time with us, laughing and joking, and my siblings and I were delighted at this. (My autobiography is due out at Christmas, it is a great read even if I do say so myself.)
So, where was I? Oh yes, time travel. Personally if I was given the opportunity to go into space by N.A.S.A, I would jump at the chance to find out what it’s like to be in a gravity free situation, I would be ecstatic to land on the moon, but if they told me that they could send me back in time, I would refuse point blank, as I am totally happy with having my memories, good and bad.
Also I think that a lot of people would agree with me, that if time travel did become possible, who really would want to go back in time and buy lots of shares in what are now multi million companies?
Hm, no, I’m quite happy having fun, living hand to mouth
