Why Read My Novels? 7/14/2013 10:09:00 PM
Everyone likes someone there to help during troubled times. Generally, I think that most people like to read about a particular, charasmatic person that arrives on the scene to help them during troubled times. How many times, for example, have you had someone there to help you when things looked bleak and hopless. I know I have on more than one occasson. And, as always, I was glad that the person was there to help.
My novels are formed from the marrow of stark realism. Those things most likely to happen in everyday life happen in my books. What makes them worthwhile I suppose is that the stories are set in strange, exotic lands and, from the opening page, convey the notion that murder and mayhem are about to take place. Unfortunately, good and evil exist side by side in today’s world. In DEAD GIRL BEACH, my debut novel, I take the reader on a journey into a stunningly beautiful land. Koh Phangan Island, Thailand is an exotic getaway, a fun-in-the-sun fantastic place. But the island can also be dark and dangerous.
In the book I introduce my action-hero, merchant seaman Sam Seabury. His fiance Dao Suttikul has been murdered on the island by a monstrous female socio-path. When local police offer no help solving the murder, Seabury sets out to track down the killer himself, unaware of the dangers awaiting him.
Why is this act of valor significant? I supposed the reason lies in human nature itself. With little or no help from the local police, Seabury becomes a lone-wolf seeking justice. Why? Because he is a just and honorable man, and that which has been taken away from him can never be replaced -his fiance’s life and the love he had for her. Dao Suttikul, a Thai beauty and Office Manager at a local Title Company, was the love of Seabury’s life….the first person in his marauding, seafarer existence that he truely cared about. Now she’s gone from a brutal, senseless murder committed by a sick, sinister person who relishes the though of seeing someone die.
Not only did Dao’s murder end the life of a very, beautiful caring person, but the timeless bond of love that existed between her and Seabury was destroyed forever. The days and nights of what might have been a very strong, commited relationship vanished in the blink of an eye. Pick up a newspaper, watch a news broadcast, and unfortunately you will find similar stories happening everyday. My stories are realistic in the sense that they usher in the feeling that evil does exist in the world. There are monsters, like Greta Langer in Dead Girl Beach, who murder for the pure joy of it.
