Eden2, a thought provvvvoking adult thriller novel. 7/21/2013 5:13:43 PM
Eden could very well have existed in the East. from...THE BANGKOK BLOG
A number of things are swimming through my mind right now about my recently completed novel Eden2.
1. It's an action packed Sam Seabury novel thriller.
2. It's set in a foreign land that most people will probably never visit. I know I won't,but researching the Indonesian part of Borneo provided a vicarious stimulant, and for a time I felt like I was actually going up the Mahakam River on a boat, heading for the the last Dayak village before entering the lower foothills of the Muller Mountain Range.That's where most of the story takes place.
3. Since the novei is about the possibility of a second Garden of Eden existing not in the Middle East, but in Southeast Asia, I need to add that several renowned geologists, archaeologists, and scholarly academics believe that Eden existed in the East, and not in the land of Mesopotamia.
In the story Sam Seabury finds a papyrus map that leads to the discovery of a second Eden tucked away in a temple/garden located in the Muller Mountains in eastern Kalimantan (Borneo).
Here is an exerpt from the book.
Seabury spun the dial, pulled the door open, and set the map inside the wall safe. Then he went over and sat down on the end of his bed.
According to popular belief, the Garden of Eden was supposed to be located
somewhere in Iraq. Destroyed by the Great Flood. But if the Garden remained buried
under piles of sediment, then its actual location could never have been known. Wouldn’t
that shake up the entire Judeo/Christian world if the Garden turned out to be
somewhere else instead of in the land of Mesopotamia as biblical scholars and
archeologists had suggested. What would that do to the Bible’s authenticity?
It would shake it to the very core, Seabury thought in the dim light of his stateroom.
He stared back at the wall safe. He couldn’t keep his hands from shaking. Did the
map inside hold the key to the mystery of the ages?
He shook his head. He put off the thought. It was too much for his tired brain to
handle now.
In Eden2 the reader is caught up in a clash of ideas, those supported by Christian fundamentalists like Lois Lockett and those expressed by the dowdy old agnostic, professor Harlan Hornsby. Seabury has his own ideas about religion as he tells Lois when she asks him if he believe in God.
"Not in the same One you do, Seabury said, and then he explains briefly that the God he believes in is a God found all around him everywhere in nature.
I've also included a lot of chase scenes in the book to generate excitement. There is also a Swat Team shootout, and Seabury doing what he does best, living life on his own terms and avoiding danger.
I like the way the book turned out. I hope you like it too.
