Regardless of our version of success, most of us will probably agree that it goes hand in hand with happiness. However, I am not sure that that is always the case. To me, success is accomplishing your purpose in life to the best of your capabilities. The way that I see it is that success does not necessarily go hand in hand with happiness. One thing that can be said about the world that we live in is that as long as we continue to exist, history will continue to shape our direction. As a result, leaving a legacy is very influential to the generations to come.
Let's look at Martin Luther King Jr for example. He labored very hard to help people see life in a more positive way so that different people from different races can get along. Indeed, he left a legacy for generations to come.
I would say that he was successful at planting a seed that will continue to grow in people's heart and help them to think about the importance of racial harmony. However, was he happy (especially each time he looked at the long tedious road that all people would have to travel to get along)? I don't know...
