Let God’s light pierce your heart 2/8/2018 9:13:55 AM
A few years ago I was in a prayer meeting with 7 or 8 other people. A young woman in the group told us that the Lord had awakened her that morning with the words, resist the devil.
Seeking clarification on that, we began praying in tongues. A few minutes later, an older woman approached me and put her hands on my shoulders and prayed. I felt the power of God come upon me. I was overcome and slumped to the floor. As I lay there, two women sang over me.
After I got up, the young woman told me that she saw a creature come off me. It looked doglike or monkeylike and it went and crouched in the corner. Then God gave her a word of knowledge: she said to me, “This demon is a spirit of unworthiness—and it has a right to stalk you.”
What!? I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a spirit of unworthiness. And why did it have a right to follow me?
Through prayer, God told me that the devil had used my childhood experiences to place corrupt building blocks in my heart. He firmly cemented them into place, laying a foundation of wrong ideas about my self-worth. Over the years I had accepted them as truth. These building blocks, these lies of the devil, kept me from the freedoms found in Christ. And believing that I was unworthy, gave that demon permission to track me.
Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
If you let Him, God will use His Word to remove deceptions from your heart. The truth will set you free so you can be the man or woman you’re meant to be.
I was willing to let God show me the truth, but the problem I had, and it’s one you may have too, is that a lot of our childhood is hidden away. If you’re wondering how you can remember those things, remember this: nothing is beyond the power of the Holy Spirit, not even the enemy’s concealed weapons.
God wants to shine His holy light on your defective building blocks. He not only wants to show you the false beliefs and opinions you have about yourself, but He also wants to perform open-heart surgery and remove them. God desires that you come to know Him as your deliverer, not from the sins you’ve committed, but from the sins committed against you.
