Dear readers and unmet friends:
When I joined AuthorsDen several years ago, it promised its members a free service. The internet boom was still happening, and I imagine AuthorsDen wanted to attract writers and form a base. I joined and supported it. Later, when they began imposing fees, original members were told in an email that they would be "grandfathered" into the system, gratis. A little later, they were told they had to pay a "one-time fee" of $25 to remain members. This was when the .com stocks were on the heavy slide, and it is understandable why a company would make this move. However, it was my hope to be a member of a community of writers, not a company. I refused to pay the fee and reminded Simon and another gentleman whose name escapes me of their original word. They continued to honor this for another couple of years, but now it seems they want money again, and threaten to cancel my membership the day after Labor Day, Sept. 5th. I write full-time and I do not make enough to pay such fees, and I am proud and insist that no one pay it for me. So what I request is simple.
